Referee explains yellow card for Vinícius Jr after Betis clash

Referee Alejandro Hernández Hernández has clarified his decision to issue a yellow card to Real Madrid’s Vinícius Jr during Saturday night’s match.

This follows accusations that the Brazilian questioned the official's decision-making.

Real Madrid faced off against Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis in Seville for a La Liga encounter on Saturday. Ultimately, it was a disappointing night for the visitors, as Betis secured a 1-0 victory, courtesy of a lone goal from summer signing Troy Parrott.

The closing moments of the match were marked by controversy, with Real Madrid frustrated by several officiating decisions at La Cartuja.

After the final whistle, Vinícius Jr, acting as stand-in captain, approached referee Hernández Hernández seeking clarification.

The official has now explained the reason behind the yellow card, stating in his post-match report that Vinícius was cautioned for “giving a technical remark about one of my decisions after the game.”
